Friends of school
Who are we?
The Friends of School are a group of parents, relatives and staff whose aim is to raise funds to assist with the cost of extras that the school provides for the children to help improve their experience at Sutton upon Derwent Primary School.
Where does the money raised go?
Recently we have contributed a considerable amount of money towards ensuring all children have access to laptops at school. We funded a theatre group who came into school to entertain the children with a Christmas Pantomime. We have also raised money to re-surface the playground and we have raised enough money in 2018 for the outdoors area in Early Years to be redone completely! At present we are in the early stages of planning our next big spend- watch this space!
Our main aim is to use the funds raised to enhance the experiences of every child in the school, from improving sporting facilities to extending the range and access pupils have to excellent reading materials.
We are aiming to raise at least £1000 in this school year, and have a calendar of events lined up which will be fun for everyone as well as raising money for the school. If any parent has a suggestion as to what the money could be used for, please contact the Friends of School.
What type of events/activities do we do?
In the past couple of years we have organised the following events:
Party in the Playground
We would really like to increase the number of events and activities that we can offer to the children and families of Sutton.
I am interested, when and where do we meet?
Being part of the committee is not a huge commitment and it is very rewarding as well as a great way to meet other parents and have fun being involved in our fundraising events.
We usually meet each term and would welcome new members to our friendly team. You may only wish to be involved with one event throughout the year or just come along to find out what is coming up. We welcome any ideas you may have for fundraising events or activities and suggestions on ways to spend money raised. Attending meetings isn't compulsory; you may wish to be a “friend of the friends” and help out at events as and when you can. If you are interested in joining our email list for friends of the friends please get in touch and we will keep you up to date on upcoming events by email.
How to contact us:
We can be contacted either via email at email@example.com or if you prefer to contact by telephone, please leave a message and a telephone number with the school office and we will get in touch promptly!
